I was looking for a computerized sewing machine to replace my older Singer Simple. Since I am relatively new to sewing and still have a lot to learn about this skill, I did not want to spend a lot of money on a sewing machine. When I saw the Brother CP100X 100-Stitch, I thought it seemed like a good machine for a good price, so I decided to purchase it. I received my machine this week and spent some time experimenting with it. I am very impressed with this machine. It was packed very neatly in the box, and it was easy to remove from the packaging. I was a little concerned at first because this machine is light in weight compared to my old machine, but that does not seem to have any bearing on its performance. I experimented with everything from changing the presser feet to sewing the different stitches to threading and placing the bobbin, as well as a few other features this machine offers. Each function of this machine worked exactly as it should and I had no trouble figuring out what I needed to do and when/how to do it. Additionally, the instruction manual is very clear and easy to follow, as well as is the picture guide instructions, which also came with the machine. I find this incredibly helpful, especially since I do not have a lot of experience working with sewing machines, as this is only the second machine I've owned, and the first computerized machine I've experienced. My only word of advice would is to be sure and read through the manual carefully. The manual thoroughly explains the features of this machine, how to use them, and troubleshooting issues, should they happen; however, reading the manual is necessary so that one understands how the machine is best operated. I would absolutely recommend this machine for anyone who sews or wants to learn to sew. It is a great machine for a great price, and I am happy with my purchase.
Great machine for quilt as you go blocks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review. This sewing machine is fantastic. I guess I've been living in the dark ages with my old machine from my mom. This machine has it all! Threading a needle on the first try with this was a huge success, changing out one of the ten feet is a breeze, endless stitches are amazing. It's quiet, the foot peddle is accurate to your touch and I love the storage case. I've whipped out some pretty cute doll clothes for my daughter and she's loving the different stitches that she can choose for them. This machine is going to be great for anyone that wants to learn how to sew. It's so user friendly and so simple. It light weight and has a very large working area, which is great for quilt making. This is by far a great machine and can't wait to see what I can make next.
This is a great basic sewing machine, ideal for beginners. I bought it as an additional machine to my Brother sewing/embroidery machine and it's doing exactly what I wanted it to do - piecing quilts and basic quilting. Setting up was very easy and the instructions were clear.
This has a very nice stitch.. This has worked out prefect for my travel sewing machine. Nice price for the package you get!
Absolutely love this machine. So easy to use and the extended table definitely helps when I'm quilting
Make sure your address is correct if ordering online as mine was but, fedex didn't find it the 1st time. Other than 5hat, the machine appears to be exactly what I wanted for myself.
I needed to replace my broken LX3817A because I didn't think it was worth fixing an entry level machine. But this machine can't even hem jeans without skipping stitches. New machine, fresh needle, but still it looks awful. I was really excited about getting a better machine which just makes how awful this one works more disappointing. I wish I had gone with something else but I guess I have to make it work now. Perhaps I should have paid attention to the only reviews being part of a promotion.
I have had my machine since August just turned on the back sticht now I cannot turn it off and it will randomly back sticht as I am sewing not just at the beginning and end also getting F2 error and the book says it malfunctioning.
We bought 5 of these machines for out free sewing room 2 of them have started doing an automatic back stitch whenever the sewer pauses. it is very confusing for beginners and maddening for experianced sewers.
